Osmosis: a process by which molecules of a solvent tend to pass through a semipermeable membrane from a less concentrated solution into a more concentrated one.
What is Osmosis?
Plants use a process called Osmosis. This involves the diffusion of water through a membrane from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration of water.
High concentration - Low Concentration.
The sugar molecules make the water inside the root cell less concentrated than the water in the soil surrounding it, so more water molecules move into the plant tan out. This pressure helps water rise a short way up the stem.
